Weight Watchers Makes Hunger Adorable with Hungry Monster
Posted on February 4, 2009
A cute little furry monster tempts people with candy, donuts and pizza in the new Weight Watchers Momentum ads. In the commercials hunger is characterized by a furry little monster who offers tempting snacks at home and hurls donuts your way while you are at the office.
There is another one on YouTube where the Hungry monster is tempting a homeowner with candy and pizza. Janeane Garofalo does the voice over in the Weight Watchers commercials.
Update: There was a Hungry plush toy but it has been recalled. The (CPSC) reports that Weight Watchers is now recalling its plush Hungry toys and Hungry magnets because sewing needles were found in the stuffing of the Hungry figures. Weight Watchers company employees found sewing needles in two hungry figures.
Hazard: Sewing needles have been found in the stuffing of the Hungry Figures, posing a puncture hazard to consumers.Incidents/Injuries: Weight Watchers has received two reports from company employees of a sewing needle being found in two Hungry Figures. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets have orange plush exteriors. The Hungry Figure is about 6 inches long and the Hungry Magnet is about 4 inches long.
The Weight Watchers character is very cute. It is a shame some of the plush monsters have sewing needles inside them. The Hungry figures were sold for between $4 and $7 between April and July of this year. They were manufactured in China. Maybe they can have some sewing-needle-free versions made in the future.
