Tiffany Ad Features Same-Sex Couple

Posted on February 19, 2015

A new Tiffany & Co. jewelry ad features a same sex couple. It is the brand's first ad featuring a same-sex couple. The couple are pictured sitting on steps outdoors.

The ad was photographed in New York City. The Cut reports that couple in the ad is a real couple sitting outside their actual apartment. The ad is part of series of engagement ads photographed by Peter Lindbergh. The Tiffany campaign is called "Will You?" The other ads in the campaign feature straight couples. The full campaign can be seen here on cnn.com.

With the growing number of gay marriages and growing support of gay marriage it is no surprise to see more ads featuring gay couples. Gay marriage is now legal in 36 states and the District of Columbia. The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear the issue of same-sex marriage in April. The court will issue a decision by the end of June.

Linda Buckley, Tiffany & Co. VP of North American PR, told Elle, "Nowadays, the road to marriage is no longer linear, and true love can happen more than once with love stories coming in a variety of forms. The Tiffany engagement ring is the first sentence of the story that a couple will write together as they create a life that is deeply intimate and exceptional, which is the message we hope to convey through this campaign."
