Starbucks red cups are back this year following initial concerns the green cups with people artwork were this year's holiday cups. The cups this year are also not just plain red cups. The cups feature designs created by Starbucks customers.

Starbucks invited customers to use the red holiday cup as a canvas last December. Over 1,200 people from 13 countries submitted designs. Starbucks chose 13 of the designs to use on its 2016 holiday cups.

The holiday designs features birds, winter scenes, Christmas lights, candy canes, ornaments, deer, Santa's sleigh, poinsettias, snowflakes and wreaths. The designs come from all over the world including artists in Indonesia, Dubai, Canada, Germany, Russia, South Korea and the U.S.

The ornaments design was created by Anz Soza from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Anz says, "I love the Christmas season so I was really inspired. To me, the color red symbolizes the celebration of love and life."

This candy cane design was created by Jennifer, a professional artist living in Seattle. Jennifer says, "My goal was to merge the whimsical candy cane elements with the botanical patterns in a cohesive, symmetrical design that would not only capture the spirit of the holiday season but also work with the red ombré, which is why I chose white ink. It was a great deal of fun to make, and I thank Starbucks for giving artists such a lovely canvas to work with."

The cups are in stores now.
