Midnight Planetarium Watch From Van Cleef & Arpels
Posted on July 18, 2016
The Midnight Planetarium Watch is a unique luxury watch from Van Cleef & Arpels. It will appeal to stargazers with its miniature representation of the solar system. Different hard stones are used to represent the planets. Turquoise was used for Earth, serpentine for Mercury, red jasper for Mars and a blue agate for Jupiter.
Van Cleef says the movement of each planet on the watch is true to its genuine length of orbit. It takes Saturn over 29 years to make a complete circuit of the dial, while Jupiter will take almost 12 years. Mars takes 687 days, Venus 224 days and Mercury 88 days. Planet Earth, as you know, takes 365 days.
The Martian star Matt Damon wore the watch to the Oscars this year according to JustLuxe. The watch is part of the Poetry of Time collection. It costs $210,000. You can find out more about it on vancleefarpels.com.
