USDA Pauses Avocado Inspections Over Security Concerns

The USDA has temporary paused inspections of avocados in parts of Mexico. Only part of exports from Michoacán are impacted. Two inspectors were reportedly assaulted and held against their will. They have since been freed.

ABC News says this could have an impact on avocado experts in the future if inspectors cannot inspect them. There is plenty of supply available in the short term. Our inspectors need extra protection in these more dangerous parts of Mexico.
