The Today Show Cast Reenacts the Royal Wedding for Halloween
Posted on October 31, 2011
Viewers may have thought they were hallucinating when they tuned in this morning to The Today Show for what appeared to be live coverage -- again - -of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Cast members dressed as members of the royal family and former host Meredith Vieira returned to play Queen Elizabeth. It was very cleverly done, using real footage and commentary from the day interspersed with the hosts impersonating the royal family.
Everyone was there: Prince Williams (Matt Lauer), Kate Middleton (Ann Curry), Prince Harry (Al Roker), Pippa Middleton (Natalie Morales), Prince Charles (Savannah, who was hilarious), Princess Beatrice (Kathie Lee Gifford in a giant pink hat) and and Princess Eugenie (Hoda Kotb).
When Matt moved in to hug Meredith, he knocked off her wig and hat which he hastily stuffed back on her head. Meredith had a number of Corgis with her, who seemed a bit puzzled as to what they were doing there. It was absolutely hilarious, and so clever -- they really outdid themselves this year. Take a look:
Two of the funniest costumes were Kathie Lee Gifford as Princess Beatrice and Hoda Kotb as Princess Eugenie. Kathie Lee was wearing Princess Beatrice's oversized pink silk bow hat.
