Pantone recently named Pantone 14-0848 Mimosa the color of the year for 2009. The color is meant to express hope and reasurrance for the upcoming year. Pantone said, "in a time of economic uncertainty and political change, optimism is paramount and no other color expresses hope and reassurance more than yellow."
The Gap has decided to create a limited-edition tee in the color Mimosa. They also opened a t-shirt shop with Pantone that will sell tees in Pantone colors. The store is located in Gap's rotating concept venue adjacent to its flagship store at 54th and 5th Ave. in Manhattan. It will remain open until Sunday, Feb. 8.
"We wanted to create an explosion of color and bring some warmth and optimism to our customers," said Patrick Robinson, executive vice president of design for Gap Adult and gapbody. "Mixing Pantone's vibrant colors with Gap's signature t-shirts gives everyone an opportunity to find the perfect tee they can mix and match for their own personal style."
