Time To Spring Forward Into Jet Lag
Posted on March 7, 2009
U.S. clocks need to be moved ahead one hour tomorrow for Daylight Savings Time. The official time to do that is at 2 a.m. on Sunday but most people try and do it before they go to sleep Saturday night. The worst day will be Monday when people have to get up for work an hour earlier.
The impact of losing an hour has been compared to jet lag. That's why it can take the human body a while to recover from Daylight Savings Time. A Swedish study even found turning the clocks forward can increase heart attacks. Car accidents also climb in the days following the loss of the hour.
Sleep deprivation is not a good thing. An informative article about how springing forward can affect your health can be found here.
At least most people don't have to change as many clocks as people who work in a clock shop.
