Sarah Palin's $180,000 Wardrobe Stuffed into Trash Bags at RNC HQ
Posted on January 23, 2009
Remember all the hubbub over Governor Sarah Palin's $180,000 wardrobe that was purchased with money from Republican donors? Well, the Republican National Committee (RNC) claimed they owned the clothes and that they were sending lawyers to repossess them out of her closets, after which they would be donated to charity. The lawyers flew to Alaska, then hightailed it out of Alaska with the governor's pretty new suits.
Well, guess what? The clothing was never donated to charity. $180,000 worth of clothing is stuffed into trash bags, sitting at RNC headquarters. And RNC donors are furious.
A source told New Majority, "First they make a colossal mistake of judgment by even agreeing to squander the party's resources on these clothes and then compound the error by failing to properly dispose of them. If they think donors are going to sit by and simply accept this they are mistaken."
The whole thing is just so stupid. They should have let her keep the clothes. And if they went to all the trouble to blow about $20,000 to send lawyers to Alaska to repossess them, they should at least have donated them to charity by now. Instead, all that expensive clothing just sits, mouldering in trash bags.
By now the clothes probably have moth holes in them. What a total waste of money. At least if the governor had kept them, someone would be using them.
