Rihanna Covers April 2016 Vogue in Tom Ford Dress

Rihanna covers the April 2016 issue of Vogue. She wears a colorful sequined Tom Ford dress on the cover and appears to be walking on water. She was photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for the issue.

Rihanna recently dropped her 8th album, Anti. She started a tour for the album, the Anti World Tour, last week in Jacksonville. The tour runs through August. Rihanna has also been very busy in design collaborations with Puma, including a full Fall 2016 Fenty x Puma sportswear line that she unveiled at New York Fashion Week. She also launched a footwear capsule collection, Denim Desserts, with designer Manolo Blahnik.

In the Vogue interview, Rihanna explained why some of her Puma designs are unisex. It has to do with her tomboy nature and envy of her brothers. She says, "I always wanted to do what my brothers were doing. I always wanted to play the games they played and play rough and wear pants and go outside ... Women feel empowered when they can do the things that are supposed to be only for men, you know? It breaks boundaries, it's liberating, and it's empowering when you feel like, Well, I can do that, too."

Rihanna also weighed on the alleged battle between her and Beyonce. She says, "Here's the deal. They just get so excited to feast on something that's negative. Something that's competitive. Something that's, you know, a rivalry. And that's just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me. And nobody else is going to be able to do that."

Rihanna also discusses the revealing dress she wore to the CFDA awards. She doesn't regret the dress at all but she does regret not wearing a bedazzled thong. Rihanna says, "I just liked it better without the lines underneath. Could you imagine the CFDA dress with a bra? I would slice my throat. I already wanted to, for wearing a thong that wasn't bedazzled. That's the only regret I have in my life."

This was not Rihanna's only Vogue cover this month. She also covered the April 2016 cover of British Vogue in a cowboy hat.
