Project Runway: Designing For a Musical Genre

Posted on September 25, 2008

Last night's Project Runway challenge was to create a look for a fellow designer based on a genre of music. The results were a mixed bag. Korto designed a punk rock outfit for Suede (left photo) and she won the night, with her distressed jeans, chain accents and accented top.

The best outfit of the night was clearly Jarell's Britney Spears homage, created for Kenley (best that's girl has ever looked, middle photo). The fishnet top featured silver beaded built in bra and turtleneck and a cute miniskirt. It was just darling -- but Jarrell came in second place.

The worst outfit of the night by far was Kenley's ridiculous hip hop outfit she created for Leanne (right photo). The outfit was tight, the crotch on the pants was ill-fitting and the outfit had no bling. There was nothing hip hop about it, as guest judge LL Cool Jay pointed out. But Kenley argued with LL, just like she argued with Tim Gunn earlier. We can't stand her now -- she should have been kicked off the show for this travesty.

So who got kicked off? It was Suede for his supposedly "boring" rock and roll outfit he did for Jarell. It looked very Jeffery Sebelius and should not have earned Sued an Auf. We are not pleased. We feel quite sure the producers forced them to keep Kenley so we can see her yell at the judges next week.
