Samsung Unveils Family Hub Refrigerator at CES 2016

Digital screens are now being integrated into refrigerators Samsung unveiled Family Hub Refrigerator at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show. The fridge features a 21.5-inch LCD panel on the right door.
The screen enables family members to update a calendar and post notes. It can also be used to pin photos, shared children's artwork and more using a smartphone.Cameras inside the fridge enable owners to look at the items inside the fridge without opening the door. These photographs can be accessed using a smart phone.
Samsung's General Manager of Home Appliances John Herrington says in a statement, "With the new and innovative Family Hub Refrigerator, we are transforming the communal kitchen experience for consumers in ways that will re-define how they view and use their refrigerator. Now more than ever, we are delivering in a big way on the promise of the Internet of Things, not only in refrigeration but in cooking, with a new Wi-Fi-connected range that takes cooking convenience to a new level."
Here is a closer look at the digital door component of the fridge at CES 2016 from Tom's Guide. This video shows the stainless steel model. The sleek black model is pictured above. The panel appears to look better on the black model where it stands out lss. The refrigerator will be available in Spring 2016. Consumer Reports reports that the price for the smart fridge is expected to be around $5,000.
