Pebble Unveils Pebble Core Device Integrated with Amazon Alexa

Posted on June 3, 2016

Pebble has unveiled the first wearable device powered with Amazon's Alexa voice service. The Pebble Core is a small lightweight clip designed for running.

Pebble unveiled the Pebble Core on Kickstarter along with its new Pebble 2 and Time 2 smartwatches. The three items have quickly soared to $10 million, well passed the $1 million goal with 26 days still remaining. The Pebble Core can be ordered through Kickstarter for $69 with an expected shipment date of January 2017.

Pebble Core can also fit on your keychain. It has two buttons that can be configured to do what you want. Some of Pebble's suggestions include open your garage door, turn on lights, unlock your car or order an Uber service. The Verge notes that there is no microphone on Core so you need to use it with Bluetooth-enabled headphones to hear Alexa's voice. The Verge also compares the size of the device to the iPod Shuffle from several years ago.

Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsk says in a statement, "Experiencing Amazon Alexa on-the-go right from Pebble Core is game-changing for wearable technology. We're longtime fans of the powerful voice services Alexa delivers, and it only gets smarter and more useful over time. It's an approach we embrace with our own products."
