Honda Launches Miimo Robotic Lawn Mower

Honda has introduced its first robotic lawn mower. The mower is called Miimo. There are two different models that operate within a boundary wire installed by Honda Power Equipment dealers.

The robot uses a combination of controls, timers, anti-theft security and real-time sensory feedback. The mowers have day and night modes, 360-degree sensors and a floating cover to detect obstacles. The mowers create small clippings that are dispersed into the lawn root system. The idea is that you will mow more frequently with the robots than with a regular lawn mower. Each model is powered by a lithium-ion battery and returns to its docking station when it needs to recharge.

The HRM 310 is the smaller of the two models. It weighs 26 pounds and can cut up to 0.37 acres. It gets up to 30 minutes of mowing time per charge. The bigger HRM 520 model can mow up to 0.75 acres. It has a larger battery and gets up to 60 minutes of mowing time per charge. The HRM 310 costs $2,499 and the HRM 520 costs $2,799. They are available at select Honda Power Equipment dealerships nationwide.
