In the Vogue interview, Margot receives high praise from Suicide Squad co-star Jared Leto for her acting in The Wolf of Wall Street. Leto says, "She took a role that other people would have had a very difficult time with and elevated it to something spectacular.
Margot says, "When I first read it, I thought, I have nothing in common with her. I hate her. It was a really tricky one to get my head around. But her motivation was 'You guys are doing it-why shouldn't I? It's this man's world, and I'm going to get mine.' And I understand that."
Margot also weighed in on her wild Harley Quinn character in Suicide Squad: "She doesn't even have superpowers. She's just a psychopath who runs around gleefully killing people-she finds joy in causing mayhem, which makes her weirdly endearing and fun to watch."
Margot talks about being raised by a single mother. She says she went to a school were everyone was well-off but she was not. She says she learned to work out to get what you want and worked odd jobs that included tending bar and making sandwiches.
Margot says, "The whole fake-it-till-you-make-it thing has really worked out for me. The more times you do that, the more you realize that no one really knows what they're doing; everyone's kind of figuring it out or pretending they know until they do know. And you can apply that to anything-you just have to hustle."
Margot is Jane Porter in The Legend of Tarzan, which arrives in theaters on July 1st. You can also catch her in Suicide Squad on August 5th.
