Louis Vuitton Opening Three Floor Space Inside Printemps

Posted on June 2, 2010

Louis Vuitton is opening a giant, three story space inside French department store Printemps. The new space is 4,300 square feet. The ground floor will open in mid-June and will sell accessories, watches and fine jewelry. The second and third floors will open later in the summer.

WWD reports that Louis Vuitton seeks to attract new customers through tourists with the Printemps location.

"The business in Paris is doing extremely well," Schaus said, describing a thriving business at Galeries, where there is often a queue, thanks partly to an explosion in Chinese tourism and a new fashion floor added in 2008.

Vuitton expects the Printemps unit to attract a different clientele, including fashion-conscious Right Bank residents and growing ranks of tourists from the Middle East and Russia. "They are really filling a void in Paris," Schaus said.

Louis Vuitton has three of its own stores in Paris, including the flagship store on the Champs-Elysees. The luxury company will retain its strict no discounts, no sales policies even though it is in the middle of a department store that frequently has sales. Vuitton execs say that the store within a store is a way to lure in customers who might be too intimidated to walk in the door of one of its freestanding boutiques.

Louis Vuitton has photographs of the store located at 64, boulevard Haussmann 75009 Paris, France on its webpage for the store at louisvuitton.com.
