LEGO has announced there will be new Harry Potter sets coming out this year. LEGO says new building sets and BrickHeadz inspired by the Wizard World will arrive in the second half of 2018. They will include sets inspired by the film worlds of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts as well as characters from these worlds (including Newt Scamander). The sets are the result of a continuing partnership between LEGO and Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
LEGO has been making Harry Potter themed sets since 2001. Maryellen Zarakas, senior vice president of franchise management & marketing for WBCP, says in a statement, "Together with our long-standing partners at the LEGO Group, we're excited to bring Harry Potter back into LEGO form and expand the world with the addition of Fantastic Beasts sets."
LEGO also previewed one of the sets it will sneak peek at the Toy Fair in New York. The LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall set will launch on August 1, 2018. The 878-piece set is four levels high and features a spiral staircase and the main dining hall for the hungry studying wizards. Nerdist reveals that the detailed set also includes floating candles, a potions room, the Sorting Hat, ten minifigures and much more.
The Wizarding World sets are among the hundreds of new sets LEGO will introduce in 2018. Some of the other properties LEGO will be building in this year include LEGO Batman, Minecraft, Powerpuff Girls, Disney, Incredibles 2, Marvel Super Heroes, Star Wars and Unikitty.
