Larger iPad Pro Tablet Ships in November

Posted on October 18, 2015

Apple will start shipping its larger iPad Pro in November. Apple announced the new tablet size in September at a press event. The iPad Pro features a 12.9-inch Retina display.

The main difference with the iPad Pro is obviously its larger size. It is much bigger than the 9.7-inch iPad Air tablets. The new display has 5.6 million pixels. It has a2732‑by‑2048 resolution at 264 pixels per inch. Apple says the iPad Pro is more than just bigger. The company says it has nearly double the CPU performance of the iPad Air 2. Apple says, "It's not just larger. It’s an iPad that lets you be more creative and more productive."

Apple also introduced the Apple Pencil that works with the iPad Pro. The stylus-like tool contains sensors the measure pressure and tilt. It works with the new Multi-Touch display in the latest tablet which was created to work with the Apple Pencil.

The iPad Pro is 6.9 mm thick and weighs 1.57 pounds. It runs on Apple's new 64-bit A9X chip. It has a 10-hour battery life. It has two cameras, including the iSight camera that can shoot 720p HD and the FaceTime HD camera.

Pricing for the iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model and $1079 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB model. The Apple Pencil retails for $99. Apple also unveiled a new type of keyboard case, called Smart Keyboard, which will retail for $169. If you buy the most expensive model with the Pencil and new case it will cost you $1,347.

We think this larger size in tablets is a great idea especially now that companies like Apple are making them so light. Here an iPad Pro unboxing video from iJustine:
