Posted on August 30, 2011
Karl Lagerfeld highly anticipated capsule collection for Macy's, Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse, arrives in Macy's stores and on macys.com tomorrow, August 31. Macy's describes the collection as a blend of refined dresses, airy tops, modern tweeds and Lagerfeld's signature high-collared neck. Prices will range from $50 to $170. The color palette ranges from soft to shocking pink and grey to noir. Coco Rocha looks fierce modeling Lagerfeld's capsule collection.
Jeff Gennette, Macy's chief merchandising officer, says, "The anticipation and buzz for the launch of this exciting collection from Karl Lagerfeld has been remarkable. A fashion legend, Karl's iconic and extraordinary designs will reach fashionistas across the country just in time to celebrate fall fashion. The collection is the epitome of chic, capturing the essence of Karl Lagerfeld and offering our Impulse customer collectible pieces at an incredible price."
Here's a behind the scenes look at Karl Lagerfeld creating a collection for Macy's. Karl sketches the looks and talks about his inspiration. "It's all about Macy's," he says. "Their attitude, their client, a modern approach to what they do. Most hilarious moment: the interviewer says to Karl, "It's all black and white, yes?" Not missing a beat, Karl replies, "No...Think Pink!...but don't wear it!" It's a reference to the iconic scene in Funny Face when Kay Thompson (who plays a thinly-disguised version of Vogue editrix Diana Vreeland) declares that the new color will be pink. "Think pink!" she exclaims, off the top of her head. And, voila! The new color is pink. She of course "wouldn't be caught dead" in pink, however. Love that movie.
Anyway...Coco Rocha models the looks and talks about how wonderful it is for young women to be able to own a Karl Lagerfeld piece that is modestly priced. We couldn't agree more. Take a look:
