Actress Julia Roberts is the face of the Givenchy Spring 2015 campaign. Julia's big familiar smile from her hit movies is absent as she makes serious poses in black Givenchy dresses and a tuxedo.
Givenchy artistic director Riccardo Tisci shared three of the photos from the new campaign on his Instagram account, @riccardotisci17. Tisci calls her an icon is his posts. The Spring 2015 campaign was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Givenchy says in its Instagram that Julia is the "perfect interpretation of Givenchy." Serge Normant did Julia's hair for the campaign and Genevieve Herr did her makeup. Katy England was the stylist.
Joe Zee interviewed Tisci on Yahoo Style about choosing Julia for the Givenchy campaign. Tisci says he wanted a woman who is "mature, beautiful, talented, but also unpretentious" for his upcoming tenth year at Givenchy.
Tisci also talked about having Julia wear his classic Givenchy pieces for the campaign, including a tuxedo and a black and white chemise dress. Tisci says, "These are classic Givenchy-the ones that I'm famous for. You know, the boxy jacket, the black dress with the white collar, the lace shirts and the masculine trousers. It's this kind of mixing of masculine and feminine. Julia does this a lot in her films. She really has to think about transforming herself a lot; she's very versatile."
Tisci says his favorite Julia Roberts movie is Pretty Woman. Julia will start in two films in 2015. They are the The Secret in Their Eyes and Money Monster.
