Pulpless Foam Pumpkins Make Halloween Crafts Easy
Posted on October 17, 2003
Pulpless pumpkins are a welcomed surprise to those who want to avoid the messy task of carving a real pumpkin this Halloween. The foam pumpkins still need to be carved, but there is no pulp and the foam pumpkin won't spoil. You could even bring them out again next year.
On the downside they don't quite have the look or feel of a real carved pumpkin and you can't place a candle inside them. But they don't require nearly as much effort to carve. Still pulpless pumpkins sales are expected to grow each year as people use them to replace real pumpkins or as additional Halloween decor.
The Omaha World-Herald has a report on the foam pumpkin trend. The foam pumpkins have even increased sales of pumpkin carving kits. The foam pumpkins and kits can be found at your local craft stores.
This video from Diva of DIY shows you how to carve a foam pumpkin using a versa-tool electric knife.
