Gwyneth Paltrow's Polarizing Jumpsuit Choice
Posted on January 17, 2015
Gwyneth Paltrow embraced the jumpsuit for her appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Gwyneth donned a blush jumpsuit from Elie Saab's Pre-Fall 2015 collection to sing rap songs in a Broadway style.
The jumpsuit featured an asymmetrical ruffle across the bodice, long sleeves, a high waist and slash pockets. The jumpsuit is lovely, but it really didn't photograph well. Gwyneth looks lovely in blush pink, so that's not the problem. The high waist makes the proportions off somehow, and we also think the fabric was too thin for the harsh studio lights: you could see the Spanx line at the top of the thighs. She accessorized with black Jimmy Choo heeled sandals. A lot of people do not like this jumpsuit, in fact, some seem quite unhinged over it.
Gwyneth has apparently been abandoned by her co-star Johnny Depp on the publicity tour for their quirky English comedy Mortdecai, which is based on the popular series of comic British novels by Kyril Bonfiglioli about the adventures of a rougish art dealer (played by Depp in the film). Gwyneth plays his wife. Gwyneth has been everywhere doing her job, but Johnny is pretty much MIA. Still, she's soldiering on, and frankly we'd rather see her than Depp anyway now that he's lost in Amber land.
Always a good sport, Gwyneth joined Jimmy for a little musical entertainment. She stood by the piano which Jimmy pretended to play. She sang a series of hip hop songs in a Broadway style and she sounded simply amazing. They started out with Drake's "Started From the Bottom," then did a very funny version of Nicki Minaj's hit "Anaconda." But the piece de resistance was Gwyneth belting out Big Sean's "I Don’t F@#k With You." We have one big complaint: this segment should have been quite a bit longer.
Gwyneth also talked about drinking wine coolers at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was a rebellious teen.
