Giant Food Opens On-site Pop-up Store at Dover International Speedway
Posted on September 23, 2010
NASCAR fans won't have to travel far for tailgating items at the Dover International Speedway during the Sept. 24-26, 2010 race weekend. Giant Food is opening up a 5,000-square-foot on-site pop-up store at the Speedway to service NASCAR fans. The pop-up store will carry 2,500 items including including hot dogs, hamburgers, coleslaw, potato salad, buns, chips and drinks. The store will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Sunday, September 26.
Rob Harman, ice president of operations for Giant Food, said, "In little more than a week, we've been able to build an impressive but temporary Giant store. I'm incredibly proud of the teamwork of all departments who have worked hard to ensure that our store is ready for speedway shoppers."
A report in Bizjournals says the deal will also include a five-week in-store promotion at Giant stores. Bizjournals says, "The promotion will include consumer offers for chances to win race tickets, NASCAR merchandise and trips to the NASCAR Champion’s Week in Las Vegas."
It is certainly a unique idea. We will see if it is repeated at future NASCAR events.
