Posted on January 7, 2012

CBS News' Rebecca Jarvis sat down with the recent winner of the Food Network's "Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs," Geoffrey Zakarian. They did the interview at The Lambs Club in Manhattan.

Chef Zakarian made Rebecca one of his favorite dishes on the current menu, Cod en Papillote with Potato Spuma, Smoked Tuna and Bottarga. They also had a cocktail called the Gold Rush. It consists of bourbon, honey and lemon.

Chef Zakarian says his roots are strongly Mediterranean. He said having only one hour to create the dishes on Iron Chef is very challenging. He says it's very physical work. He went to the gym to prepare for the show so he wouldn't be so exhausted. He says any chef can win any day: one mistake and anyone could lose. He says the key to success as a chef is experience, learning from your mistakes and having a great staff. He also talks about the effect the economy is having on the restaurant business.
