General Mills to Launch Girl Scouts Caramel Crunch and Thin Mints Cereals
Posted on October 28, 2016
General Mills has announced plans to launch cereals inspired by the popular Girl Scouts cookies. The two launch cereals will be Girl Scouts Caramel Crunch and Girl Scouts Thin Mints. The cereal will arrive in stores in January 2017.
General Mills confirmed the news on Twitter with photographs of the products. The company says in a tweet, "Yes, it's true! Girl Scouts Cookie cereals will hit U.S. stores in January. We'll share more details soon!"
CNN notes that only the Thin Mints cereal is directly inspired by one of the 12 Girl Scout cookie flavors. USA Today says the cereal will be limited edition products that likely vanish from store shelves after a short period of time.
CNN also notes that the Girl Scouts sold 2.5 million boxes of cookies last year so General Mills will have a large fan base to tap into with the cereal. However, the arrival of another sweetened dessert-like cereal on the market may not go over well with nutrition experts.
Here's more about the new cereals from Cereal Time TV.
