Galliano Found Guilty in Hate Speech Case, Will Serve No Jail Time

A Paris court Thursday convicted former head Dior designer John Galliano of making anti-Semitism remarks, which is a crime in France. But he won't face jail, and his fine was suspended. Galliano was fired from Dior for making anti-Semitic comments at a bar while he was drunk on two separate occasions.
The court ordered Galliano to pay a fine of one euro to his two accusers as symbols of regret and a fine of $5,700 to the court. That fine has been suspended; he will not have to pay that fine if he complies with all court orders for the next five years. He did get stuck with $20,000 in court costs, however. He will serve no jail time.
