Which Designer Walked Out on Project Runway?

Posted on March 27, 2010

We simply cannot wait until next week's episode of Project Runway. Now don't blame us, this has already been spoiled by the Project Runway producers in the following preview clip.

One of the designers just walks away from the competition, which is a first in the show's history. Then either Ping, Anthony or Jesse will return. Please, please let it be Anthony. We need to hear more about his theory that everything is Beyonce's fault.

As for this week's judging, we though it was just awful. Emilio's graphic print was not the best print of the group -- not by far. And that black collar was awful. Nina Garcia and Michael Kors were ridiculously vicious when judging Jonathan's dress and leather jacket. Jonathan, who is quite nice, surprised them when he objected politely but firmly to the criticism that his fabric looked like a tablecloth with food spilled on it. That was just bitchy. Michael Kors then said his jacket looked like a straight jacket and it went downhill from there. It was pretty bitchy, then Anthony got auf'd. Anthony had a nice parting shot: "Just because you don't have the crown, doesn't mean you aren't the queen."

Tim Gunn didn't agree with Michael and Nina at all. Gunn complemented Jonathan's innovated jacket. He says, "Imagine my incredulity when the judges descended upon him like velociraptors, using words like 'appalling' and 'catastrophe' and terms like 'a disco straitjacket.'" Gunn says he was product of Jonathan for "pushing back at them and standing his ground."

Gunn was not impressed with Emilio's winning look. He says he was "underwhelmed by the scale, color and hand-drawn execution." He was also very put off by the "narcissism demonstrated by the use of his initials." Gunn was also not very impressed with the dress and jacket. He says the dress was "just a simple, basic silhouette with a palpable vintage heritage" and that the jacket reminded him of a "bed jacket."

Preach it, Brother Tim!

The best part of the episode was the challenge where the designers got to create their own textile using some rad HP computers, software and a giant printer. The designs were then made into fabric. It was the best product placement of the entire show ever. And it made us want to buy those HP computers and notepads. Love them. Here's the horrifying clip:
