Derek Zoolander and Hansel Bring Down the House at Valentino Show
Posted on March 10, 2015
Legendary male models Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) made their triumphant return to the catwalk today at the Maison Valentino Autumn/Winter 2015 runway show in Paris. The female models had just finished walking the catwalk when suddenly the music changed.
The Human League's 1981 mega hit "Don't You Want Me" began playing and suddenly Derek and Hansel came down the dual catwalks. Hansel, his blond locks flowing the breeze, looked stunning in a Silk Continent print pajama suit with Double Cashmere overcoat and Open sneakers which was custom made for him by Maison Velentino. Derek was ridiculously good looking in a custom Night Butterflies brocade suit with hand-embroidered overcoat and black Creeper shoes.
The duo walked the runways, met at the end for a photo op then turned in unison and finished their walk back into the upper stratosphere of the fashion world. Be sure not to miss Hansel's dramatic coat shrug as he walks away, leaving the coat on the ground. It's such classic Hansel. This is why he's a star. As for Derek, he pulled out a number of his famous modeling faces, including Blue Steel, Le Tigre and Ferrari. And was that a modified Magnum Derek pulled out? We'd have to watch the tape again to be sure.
Needless to say the jaded fashion crowd went absolutely nuts when they realized who was walking the runway. The appearance was to announce that Zoolander 2 is really happening. It will be released on February 12, 2016 by Paramount Pictures. Justin Theroux wrote the screenplay so we know it will be funny. In fact, we can't wait to see it. Zoolander is one of our all time favorite movies. It's just hilarious.
Valentino Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli helped organize the successful stunt which went off without a hitch. For one thing, both Owen and Ben nailed their performances. They didn't break character once -- they were really into it. And they actually looked really great in their Valentino ensembles. The Vogue team helped prep the actors backstage. Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour was also backstage with them, laughing at their antics and posing for photos. No doubt she also gave them some good tips for their big moment.
Here is Derek and Hansel's moment of triumph:
