Cyber Monday Expands Into Cyber Week
Posted on December 1, 2014
Cyber Monday is a day when many retailers large and small offer deals to shoppers. Many people shop from their computers at work. Like Black Friday the shopping day has been expanding into a week long event. A lot of retailers, including Walmart, Kohl's, Kmart and Target, now refer to the event as a Cyber Week sale.
A Forbes story notes that some retailers, like Walmart, are incorporating their bricks-and-mortar locations into the once online-only holiday by offering store pickup on some items. The big retailers now have sophisticated plans in place and offer a combined online and in-store strategy. Years ago it often seemed like major retailer's websites were in engaged in a battle with their bricks-and-mortar stores.
Another Forbes article warns that Cyber Monday deals may one day be gone as Black Friday is becoming more and more of an online shopping event. We don't think Cyber Monday is any real danger as people like that all their favorite stores get involved and they love an excuse to shop from work. Shoppers also love the free shipping offers that are still in play this time of year.
One thing that might make things more stressful on Cyber Monday is a lack of inventory. While Black Friday's growth may not threaten Cyber Monday itself it can make some of the products vanish from Internet store shelves before shoppers have a chance to purchase them on Cyber Monday. A recent Adobe study warned there would be inventory problems on Cyber Monday this year. The earlier you shop on Cyber Monday the more likely the products you want are still going to be there.
