Cate Blanchett Wears Custom John Galliano Gown to 2015 Oscars

Cate Blanchett looked lovely at the 87th Annual Academy Awards ceremony. She showed her support for designer John Galliano, who is the new head of design for Maison Margiela.
Cate wore a lovely black silk velvet Haute Couture gown with thread silk chiffon details which was custom made for her by Galliano. She accessorized with a stunning statement necklace of turquoise, aquamarine and diamonds from the 2015 Tiffany Blue Book collection. The necklace was chosen because it matches Cate's eyes.
Cate presented the Best Actor statuette to Eddie Redmayne for his performance as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. Eddie was pretty nervous accepting his award, but rallied to give a moving acceptance speech. He said backstage that he was nervous because of Cate; he is a huge fan. He said, "I mean, the fact that it was Cate Blanchett giving it... Of course, you then forget everything but it just felt like a euphoria, really -- an extraordinary euphoria. It's something I will not forget in a hurry."
Cate plays the evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine, in the upcoming live action feature film Cinderella.
