Burger King Adds Grilled Hot Dogs to its Menu

Burger King is adding grilled hot dogs to its menu. There will be two types of the beef hot dogs available. The hot dogs will be available at all 7,000 Burger King restaurants starting February 23rd.

Burger King will offer a Classic Grilled Dog and a Chili Cheese Grilled Dog. There will be ketchup, mustard, relish and chopped onions on the classic hot dog and chili and shredded cheddar cheese on the chili version.

Alex Macedo, president of Burger King's North America, division says in a statement, "The introduction of Grilled Dogs just made sense to our guests and for our brand. We're applying over 60 years of flame-grilling expertise with the Whopper sandwich to make Grilled Dogs the next great American icon"

Macedo also told the New York Times that they have been testing hot dogs for the past year and a half. He says they will have to chop the onion differently but the introduction of hot dogs will require only about two new ingredients, relish and the buns.

The Classic Grilled Dog will cost $1.99 each and the Chili Cheese Grilled Dog will cost $2.29. The dogs can also be part of a combo meal.
