Blame Jennifer Aniston for the Poncho Comeback

The poncho has returned and a growing number of celebrities have been seen wearing them including Jennifer Aniston from the show Friends. Slate reports that the poncho has returned to mainstream apparel giants like Ann Taylor, the Gap, J.C. Penney, and Macy's and is being discussed again in fashion magazines. Slate shares a photograph of Jennifer wearing a black poncho.
While Slate's writer Amanda Fortini seems to carry some definite animosity towards the poncho (even saying ponchos make "a woman resemble a massive, impenetrable edifice") she does admit that the poncho is a current fashion trend. The article's subtitle calls it a "hideous new trend" that is afflicting America.
Perhaps, it will be a short-lived trend. At least we know who is partly to blame - Jennifer Aniston.
