The Bilibo: The Multipurpose Toy

Posted on November 26, 2006

The Bilibo doesn't look like much at first but kids can find many uses for the colorful plastic toy developed by Swiss designer Alex Hochstrasser and the Zurich University's Children's Hospital. The toy comes in six different colors and can be used for different activities including playing in the water, sliding in the snow or just sitting and rocking at home.

The Bilibo was featured in a recent Bloomberg article about unique designer items that actually sell. Of the items listed in the article the Bilibo is one of the few that seems like it should sell. Lisa Mahar at Kid O, a design store for children, told BusinessWeek that kids know what to do with the Bilibo even though most adults do not.

Lisa Mahar says, "I love that adults always ask 'what is it?' but kids never do. Children are very open to Bilibo's play potential and instinctively know what to do with it."

The Bilibo retails for $30.00. You can read more about Bilibo on the Moluk website which also describes a cute little Bilibo mini.
