Barbie will launch a line of girl's clothing this year as well as an augmented-reality online destination. Mattel will unveil a huge Barbie Dream Closet installation at New York Fashion Week to kick off its new Barbie products.
The Dream Closet installation will include 24-foot tall, jewel encrusted doors leading into a two-story, 9,000 square-foot set with multiple dressing vignettes. The Dream Closet will include augmented reality technology mirrors that allow fans to literally doll themselves up in Barbie outfits from the past five decades. Live models also will be on the set adorned in fashions on loan from the Albright Fashion Library, a couture library that includes styles from Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Moschino, Chloe, and Burberry.
