Apple Announces iPhone 5 Sells Two Million Units in 24 Hours
Posted on September 17, 2012
Apple has announced that pre-orders for the iPhone 5 topped 2 million in the first 24 hours. This is twice as many as the iPhone 4S. The phones will be delivered to customers on September 21. It will also go on sale at Apple retail stores this Friday. The taller, thinner, faster iPhone 5 was unveiled at a press conference earlier this month.
Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a statement, "iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal. iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we've ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do."
