Posted on February 24, 2009

Aeropostale Inc. is closing its 11 Jimmy'Z concept stores. The stores carried clothes targeted at teens and young adults. The very first store launched in 2005.

The WSJ says the stores will close before July, 2009. The company does have another retail concept in the works. Reuters reports that there are a total of 11 Jimmy'Z stores that will be closed.

Julian R. Geiger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Aeropostale, said in a press statement, "We sincerely thank everyone in the Jimmy'Z organization for their hard work, commitment and dedication to the brand over the past few years. We believe, however, that discontinuing the Jimmy'Z concept will enable us to focus on businesses which align with our core competencies, and generate greater long-term shareholder value."
