2016 Toy of the Year Award Winners Announced at Toy Fair

The 2016 Toy of the Year award winners were announced the annual North American International Toy Fair in New York City. The awards are presented by the Toy Industry Association.

The winner overall this year is the Doc McStuffins Pet Vet Checkup Center from Just Play. The station lets kids pretend to give their pets and animals a health checkup. Some of the features include an x-ray machine, a scale for weighing animals and a bathing area. It also includes a an electronic stethoscope, EKG, otoscope and a bandage sticker dispenser. There is also a treat dispenser to reward pets that have completed their checkup. The set retails for $79.99. The toy also won in the Preschool Toy of the Year category.

Some of the other winners this included Bright Beats Dance & Move BeatBo by Fisher-Price, which won in the infant/toddler category and Spin Master's Meccanoid G15, which won Innovative Toy of the Year. Star Wars won the prize in property of the year which seems logical given its huge success in theaters and in toy stores. A Star Wars toy - LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Millenium Falcon - also won in the boys toys category.
