2011 Golden Globes: Helena Bonham Carter
Posted on January 18, 2011
Helena Bonham Carter is fully aware that her fashion sense is not shared by the fashion press - or by other actresses, for that matter. She just doesn't care what anyone thinks and wears what she likes. We think she's just exercising her wicked sense of humor on an unsuspecting public. For the 2011 Golden Globes she wore a wild cocktail dress by Vivienne Westwood which was a mix of patterns, colors and layers. She paired the gown with one bright pink and one green shoe. For the piece de resistance, she teased her hair into a towering rat's nest and added sunglasses.
We watched her red carpet interviews in which she said that she can "reasonably predict that no one will come with the same dress or looking exactly like me. I like to have fun, and I love dressing up; it's part of my acting. I just put too many things on and I try to have fun. As long as you're comfortable, too. I'm a big believer in comfort."
Helena revealed she doesn't use a stylist, saying "No one helps me; I don't need it....Oh, well, actually I really need the help, but unfortunately I don't believe I do." She also said this ensemble was what her daughter would wear if she was dressing up like a witch.
Helena is so brilliant in the film The King's Speech. She is just an amazing actress and is quite beautiful (which she loves to hide when she's off screen). But she will have her fun on the red carpet, and who are we to judge? Oh, wait. That's what we do. Love her, love her acting, would love to see her locked in a room with Rachel Zoe, some tasteful Oscar de la Renta and Armani Prive gowns and see what happens. We're betting on Rachel for that one.
